I must commend Stone’s ability to sing a long, smooth line, his enunciation clear without exaggerated consonants disturbing the legato. Stone…uses gradations of vocal weight successfully. Stone’s fine breath-control adds to the strength of the tune…and sings caressingly. There are many good points, including a sweet mezza voce in head-voice. He and Barlow have the benefit of Richard Sutcliffe’s very fine recording.
John T Hughes, International Record Review, November 2007
[the] project to record all of Quilter's songs is a worthy one ... this first instalment, sensitively sung by baritone Mark Stone with Barlow accompanying, is a promising start.
Andrew Clements, The Guardian, 21 September 2007
The singing is clear, with good diction, and his high tenor-y baritone makes the most of the effectively placed high notes. He also phrases with notable breadth.
