Mark Stone studied at King's College, Cambridge and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.

In the UK he has sung for The Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North¸ Glyndebourne, Opera Holland Park, Buxton Festival, Garsington Opera and Grange Park Opera and abroad he has sung for Santa Fe Opera, The Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera Atelier Toronto, Liceu Barcelona, Montpellier, Netherlands Reisopera, Israeli Opera and New Zealand Opera.

His operatic roles include Marcello, Sonora, Ashton, Ford, Silvio, Rossini’s Figaro, Don Giovanni, Almaviva, Guglielmo, Onegin, Yeletsky, Danilo, Chou En-lai, Hector, Junius, Sid and Demetrius.

He has sung at all the major UK concert halls with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Gabrieli Players and the Hanover Band.

His debut solo double-CD, "The Complete Quilter Songbook Vol.I" with the pianist Stephen Barlow, has recently been released by Sony BMG. Other recordings include Gibbs' "Odysseus", two discs in Opera Rara's "Il Salotto" series, Valdeburgo in Bellini's "La Straniera", a compilation of Offenbach arias and ensembles entitled "Entre Nous", "The A-Z of Mozart Opera" with The Classical Opera Company and the LSO's Grammy award-winning recording of "Les Troyens".

Future plans include Mr Astley in Prokofiev's The Gambler (Royal Opera House), Silvio in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci (English National Opera), Luke Pollock in Sawer's Skin Deep (Opera North), Belcore in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore (Welsh National Opera), Robert in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta (Opera Holland Park), the title roles in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi and Mozart's Don Giovanni (Opera Company of Philadelphia), Sebastian in Adés The Tempest (Concertgebouw), Vaughan-Williams' Serenade to Music (BBC Proms) and European performances of Mendelssohn's Elijah and Macmillan's St John Passion.

He lives in Sussex, UK with his wife Michelle and their son Thomas and in his spare time he enjoys long-distance running.
